What is Family Day Care?
Family day care is a unique, home-based child care service providing quality care for children in the homes of Carers, supported by a local specialist co-ordination and resource team.
Family day care provides learning and development in a safe, secure and stimulating home environment for babies and children up to 12 years.
Our Carers are registered with their local Family Day Care Scheme, and are recruited, trained, supported and monitored by staff members in a central co-ordination unit. With access to continuing learning and individual support, Carers have access to the most unique training structure within the child care industry.
The personal qualities of our Carers reflect community diversity – of families, values and cultures – and show empathy, warmth, compassion, flexibility, professionalism and maturity. A commitment to nurturing and caring for children is a mandatory requirement for a Carer. Many Carers have their own children of varying ages – all have experience with children.
Our Carers are able to provide personal care for your child. They are able to care for no more than five pre-school aged children with a total of only seven children under the age of 12 years. This number also includes any of their own children in these age groups.
Our Carers provide care and education for your child in a small group environment, with a weekly program of experiences that:
- stimulates and develops your child's social, physical, emotional, cognitive, language and creates potential
- is appropriate to the individual needs and development level of your child
Each Carer must meet national requirements in not only early childhood and child care skills, but also in planning, administration and communication. All Carers are subject to a criminal history check prior to commencing work, be fully insured, have a current first aid certificate and maintain a safe child care environment.
To register on our waiting list (free of charge), please complete a Child Care Request Form, or contact our office.
